Husqvarna 450 Chainsaw Review
#1. Technical Features
Power
Since the Husqvarna 450 is a midrange chainsaw, we can expect to see a fair bit of power in it. Indeed, this chainsaw contains a 50.2 cc motor with a maximum power output of 3.2 HP. This is 1 HP more than the Husqvarna 435, which is an equally performing and good chainsaw. With this extra power, you can expect to cut tougher materials like nodes and knots easily. Additionally, more power means better ease-of-use with a chainsaw.
This powerful motor can turn the chain to a maximum of 9000 RPM and idles at 2700 RPM. As we can see, there is a lot of efficiency going on with this chainsaw. Indeed, it incorporates X-Torq technology which is Husqvarna’s proprietary technology that makes the motor more fuel efficient. The motor itself can adapt to the workload, and the heavier use you make with the chainsaw, the more torque the motor will send automatically to the chain. Indeed, we have a true revolution going on from Husqvarna as this is a superb way to save fuel.
Guide Bar
The guide bar in the Husqvarna 450 is another big attraction. You can quickly and easily change the guide bar in this model, and it will easily accommodate a 20-inch guide bar at its maximum. If this is too big for you, then you can always retrofit this chainsaw with a 13-inch guide bar and it would work just fine. As we can see, Husqvarna makes sure that we have maximum versatility for the job that we have at hand by allowing us to change the guide bar size. We know of a few chainsaw companies that provide this functionality.
Additionally, the chains can also be quickly and easily tensioned on the guide bar in a matter of seconds. It contains a side mount chain tensioner that requires a provided Torx wrench to adjust.
#2. User-friendly

Anyone who has used the Husqvarna chainsaw 450 will say that it is an exceptionally comfortable and user-friendly device. Almost everything in this chainsaw can be adjusted, from the chain tensioning to the guide bar. It will not require any skill to make changes to this chainsaw.
Moreover, the motor pack, cylinder, and chains are separated in such a way that they transmit very little vibrations, if at all to the handle. This makes it very comfortable to hold and work with. Additionally, there are springs at the bottom of this chainsaw that makes it very maneuverable within the handlebar. The engine pack moves, but the hand bar remains still.
Powering on this chainsaw is very easy, and thanks to the air purge button, you can do so with only one yank. All in all, the Husqvarna 450 is a very user-friendly chainsaw that even absolute beginners can start using right out of the box. You do not need any skill to operate this device.
#3. Safety
The chain and guide bar are designed in such a way that they provide maximum safety to the user. Indeed, there is minimum kickback with this chainsaw. In the case of a kickback, the user's hand is always protected with a steady and tough guide bar located at the front of the device.
Additionally, there is an inertia control that automatically breaks the chain when the chainsaw is moved in an upwards position. This is very handy and also an excellent security feature that many beginners will come to appreciate over time.
#4. Other features
Fuel Level Indicator: There is a clear fuel level located at the front of this chainsaw that will tell you your level of fuel at all times.
Vibration Dampening System: LowVib technology in this chainsaw separates the motor pack from the handle. It is very comfortable to use and will drastically limit hand fatigue over time.
#5. Price
The price is expensive. For a midrange chainsaw in the Husqvarna line of chainsaws, we definitely have to say that you would have to pay a premium to get this model. This does not necessarily mean that it is bad. Let’s remember that this is a premium grade and professional chainsaw that is intended mostly for semi-professionals and professionals. It has more performance and versatility when compared to other models like the Husqvarna 435. Additionally, this is not a unit that will break down over time as it is quite durable and long-lasting. We consider this as a worthy investment and recommend you get this model if you can afford it.
#6. Test with Stihl MS271
Shayne1973 made an excellent comparison test between the Husqvarna 450 and the Stihl MS271 on his YouTube channel. He equipped them both with a 20-inch guide bar. He starts with a brief overview of each chainsaw, but then quickly moves to test the cutting performance of each chainsaw with a thick log. When we watch the video, we can clearly see that both models are very close to one another, and it is almost a tie. He concludes the video by saying that it is a matter of opinion on which model you should get.

Our advice is simple. If you can afford this model, then go get it. It is an exceptional heavy-duty chainsaw that has almost no competition!
