#1. Rockwell RK5132KSonicrafter F30 Oscillating Multi-Tool

Editor's Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Rockwell RK5132KSonicrafter F30 Oscillating Multi-Tool

The Rockwell RK5132K is a popular model that is in our opinion as one of the best corded oscillating saws out there. It is fairly affordable and yet still sports excellent features. At the heart of the RK5132K lies a power 3.5 Amps motor. This allows the motor to send more torque to the blade attachments, making this device exceptionally efficient and easy to work with and making it one of the best oscillating tools on the market.

There is a 4-degree oscillating angle in this tool, making it particularly aggressive. Furthermore, since the oscillating degree is so big, this tool can cut 3x faster than other traditional oscillating tools. We recommend this device only where brute force is required, and not ideal for sensitive cuts. But there is more. A variable speed control is also present in this unit, making it easy to adapt this oscillating tool to the material you are working on.

One excellent feature of the RK5132K is the presence of a Vibrafree counterweight system. This provides the user with an almost vibration-free cutting experience. But what we really like is the Hyperlock system. It provides a 1-ton clamping force, making it virtually impossible for your attachment to come loose under load. With such a powerful clamping force, there are zero vibrations hence you get a lot of accuracy during your cut.

Furthermore, this unit has a universal shank which accepts blades from other brands as well. This can prove handy if you already own a few oscillating blades. Lastly, it comes with 32 accessories out of the box. This is quite generous and will allow you to get started right away.

Pros

  • Affordable. Value for money.
  • Powerful 3.5 Amps motor. Very efficient and easy to work with.
  • Delivered with 32 accessories.
  • Large 4-degrees oscillating angle.
  • 1-ton clamping force for blade stability and accuracy.
  • Easy to change accessories in seconds.

Cons

  • Not the best build quality.

Who Should Buy?

This model from Rockwell is hard to beat in terms of power and versatility. It is easily one of the best oscillating tools for the money. It does not have the best build quality but does deliver on the job.

#2. Porter-Cable PCE605K52 Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit

Editor's Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Porter-Cable PCE605K52 Oscillating Multi-Tool Kit

The PCE605K52 from Porter-Cable is not as powerful as the Rockwell model above, but it still sports a very powerful 3 Amps motor. Do not be mistaken! Despite its lower rating compared to the Rockwell RK5132K, it is still plenty powerful for any oscillating tasks.

But what we are more impressed about the Porter-Cable PCE605K52 is its rich accessory set. It comes with no less than 52 accessories that make it incredibly versatile. Changing accessories is equally easy with the patented clamping system. Furthermore, it has an included roller guide that allows you to adjust the depth of cut quickly and easily.

We also like the excellent build construction of this unit. It is solidly built and durable. The only problem we have is the 10 feet power cord. It is not the longest, although it is still sufficiently long for most people.

Lastly, the back handle of the device is rubberized for maximum comfort and ease of use. You can hold this oscillating tool for an extended period, without causing any hand fatigue. All in all, this is a decent device for almost any type of jobs, from sanding to cutting.

Dewalt DWE315K Oscillating Tool Kit

Another interesting oscillating tool is the DeWalt DWE315K. This is a professional grade oscillating tool with a 3-Amp motor. Plenty of power to perform any task. It is a 2-grip speed system which means that you can change the speed by holding this multi-tool on both sides. Changing accessories is very easy with the simple clamping system. It also has a very powerful clamping force on the accessory to make the blade more stable and accurate.

Lastly, the build construction is excellent. It handles well and has a rubberized finish that makes it comfortable to hold for an extended period. Professionals and even amateurs who work for long hours with their oscillating tool will like the handling and general form factor of this device.

We recommend the DeWalt DWE315K to professionals and semi-professionals looking for a quality and dependable multi-tool. It is an excellent multi tool, even if it does not come with many accessories and a little expensive. Except for those small cons, this unit is also one of the best oscillating tools on the market.

#4. Rockwell RK5121 3.0-Amp Sonicrafter Oscillating Multi-Tool

Editor's Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Rockwell RK5121 3.0 Amp Sonicrafter Oscillating Multi-Tool

The Rockwell RK5121 is a very decent budget oscillating multi-tool. It contains a 3-Amp motor and has a variable speed control. It is almost the same as the previous Rockwell multi-tool in this oscillating multi-tool review.

Despite its small price, it is still very well-built with a solid and firm construction. It handles well and demanding users should have no problem holding this multi-tool for long periods. We also like the presence of a 1-ton clamping force that holds the blade firmly to the shank of the tool. This significantly improves accuracy and control of this device.

Furthermore, it has a 3.2-degrees oscillating degree movement that allows you to make fine and accurate cuts in material. But best of all, it comes with a 31 accessory kit that makes it extremely versatile. We have to say, for the price you are paying, you do get a lot for your money. • Solid clamping system for accuracy and stability.

Cons

  • None

#5. DeWalt DCS355BXR Oscillating Multi-Tool

Editor's Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Dewalt DCS355BXR Oscillating Multi-Tool

This model from DeWalt is a compact and cordless oscillating tool. It has an excellent build quality and handles excellently. The back handle is coated with a rubber finish making it comfortable to hold. Additionally, the handle is ergonomic promoting usage over time.

The 20V lithium-ion battery is strong enough to send enough torque to the blades to cut right through very tough materials. Despite being a cordless oscillating multi-tool, this unit is a superb heavy-duty power tool. Further, there is an LED light system allowing you to use this device in dark areas. But best of all, the universal adapter in this unit is versatile. Indeed, you can use blades from other brands, and it even accepts custom blades as long as the shank size match.

What we like are the 1.6-degree oscillating movements. This is quite small, allowing you to make fine cuts in sensitive materials. When used on plywood, for example, it will not create splinters and leave a smooth and professional finish.

The sweeten the deal, it has a dual grip variable speed allowing you to change the speed of the blade in seconds. It is also very convenient to use. But that’s not all. The quick clamping system provides a strong clamping on the blade and it is also easy to change blades. Further, you can fit any type of oscillating blades in this model. It will accommodate all types, no problem.

All in all, this a very decent cordless oscillating multi-tool that will prove in handy and versatile on the job.

Pros

  • Small 1.6-degree oscillating degree. Does fine cuts in material with great accuracy.
  • Dependable and brushless motor. Efficient and powerful.
  • Cordless and maneuverable.
  • Dual speed change system.
  • LED light for working in dim corners.
  • Universal accessory fitting.

Cons

  • A little bit expensive for the price.

Who Should Buy?

If you already own a compatible 20V battery, this is a good cordless oscillating tool to have. It is excellent for fine cutting work in sensitive material due to the 1.6-degree oscillating movements.

Editor's Rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Porter-Cable PCC710B 20-volt MAX Lithium Bare Oscillating Tool

The Porter-Cable PCC710B is one of our favorite oscillating tools. The 20V lithium-ion battery sends enough power to the blade allowing it to oscillate at speeds of 8,000 – 18,000 OPM. Indeed, there is a variable speed control in this unit that allows you to adapt the speed quickly and easily to the material you are cutting or sanding.

Despite being a fairly budget model, it still comes with an impressive 20 accessories and a carry box. It is easy to use with a compact form factor, and the LED light system makes it an excellent oscillating multi-tool for use in tight areas. It is not the best oscillating tools (of the cordless varieties) on the market, but at the price that it is offered, it is pretty close to it.

#7. Rockwell RK5151K 4.2 Multi-Tool

Editor's Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Rockwell RK5151K 4.2 Multi-Tool

Another excellent corded oscillating multi-tool is the Rockwell RK5151K. This is certainly one of the most powerful oscillating multi-tool we have reviewed so far. It packs an impressive 4.2 Amps motor equipped with the excellent constant speed control developed by Rockwell. What this does is ensure that the motor will never choke or stall under load and always deliver a continuous flow of power to the blade. This allows you to make a smoother cut in higher density material like metal.

Additionally, you can adjust the oscillating degree in this model which is a very handy and practical on the job. This is called the DuoTech oscillation technology which makes this unit extremely versatile, especially if you work with different materials of different densities all the time.

There is a variable speed of 10,000 – 19,000 OPM to further allow you to adapt your material. This is a very fast unit that will deliver a smooth and professional cut almost every time. • Ergonomic and excellent handling.

Cons

  • Delivered with only 10 accessory pieces. We would have expected more for the price.

Who Should Buy?

The Rockwell RK5151K will definitely not disappoint in terms of power and dependability. It is very powerful, and you have the ability to adjust the oscillating degree on the fly allowing you to work with a wide range of stock in a matter of seconds.

Things to Consider When Buying an Oscillating Tool

#1. Attachments and Accessories

Accessories and attachments play a bit part in an oscillating tool. Ensure that your oscillating tool comes with as many accessories as possible. The more the attachment count, the more versatile the tool will be. Additionally, it is important to remember that the best oscillating tools have an easy and secure locking system. This will help you replace attachments quickly and easily.

#2. Oscillating Degree

Since the oscillating tool blade moves sideways, the oscillating degree is the distance the blade can cover. The more the oscillating degree, the more aggressive the blade will be. If you mostly plan to work on sensitive material, you may want to go with a tool with a fairly small oscillating degree. On the other hand, for more aggressive cuts, a larger oscillation degree is fine.

#3. Variable Speed

In addition to the oscillating degree, a variable speed control is also important. By being able to change the speed of the device, you can more easily adapt your oscillating tool to different types of materials. Give preference to models that have a push button or similarly easy ways to change the speed of the unit.

#4. Corded or Cordless

The corded oscillating tool offers more power than the cordless oscillating tool. Since it is not limited by the constraints of a battery. Corded types are also generally lighter. However, a cordless model has better maneuverability. If you work in awkward positions or need to carry your tool to the job site, you may want to go with a cordless type instead of a corded one.

#5. Roller Guide and Depth of Cut

In an oscillating tool, a roller guide can help you adjust the depth of cut. While most models do not come with a roller guide, it is a good idea to give preference to models that ship with such an attachment.
