DeWalt DWE575SB Circular Saw Review

#1. Technical Features

Power & Speed

The inductive motor of the circular saw consumes 1,950 Watts of power which provides a no-load speed of 5,200 RPM to the 7-1/4 inches blades. This is a little bit less powerful than the premium grade Makita 5007MG with an impressive 5,800 RPM no-load speed. However, the DWE575SB is still powerful enough for any type of wood cutting, including heavy-duty applications. It can cut through even the hardest material with great ease, and it will never stall on you. Furthermore, while not the fastest, the blade speed of 5,200 RPM is guaranteed to deliver a smooth and clean cut that looks very professional.

Cutting Capacity

There is also a lot of versatility with the DeWalt DWE575SB in terms of cutting capacity. Indeed, this model has a maximum bevel capacity of 57 degrees. This is 1-degree more than the equally popular Makita 5007F. This will allow you to make quick and easy angular cuts in your material at awkward angles. Furthermore, as almost expected, it has bevel stops at the traditional 22.5 degrees and 45 degrees angle for more versatility. If you perform repetitive bevel cuts in this angle range, this model from DeWalt will prove to be very practical to you. It is easy to adjust the blade angle and be locked in position. It can comfortably be done in a matter of seconds.

The blades themselves are a generous 7-1/4 inches in diameter, allowing you to work on larger projects. It has a fairly deep depth of cut of 2.55 inches in a perpendicular position and 1.9 inches at 45 degrees. As we can see, this is more than enough for most woodworking applications.

Dust Extraction

Having a clean cut line is very important when working with the circular saw. Thankfully, the DeWalt DWE575SB comes with a powerful dust blower system that will always keep the cut line clean from dust and debris. Its clean cut line will promote accuracy and allow you to work faster. Best of all, the dust blower kicks in automatically every time you power the device.

Blade Quality

The 7-1/4 inches blade delivered with this circular saw is carbide-tipped and manufactured from 100% gluten free steel. This is a very tough and durable metal that will not bend or break under load. It can easily be used for heavy-duty applications, including cutting for an extended period without worrying about heat damaging the blade. Furthermore, the teeth on the blade are positioned in such a way to make it more efficient when cutting through both soft and hard stock. This is not a blade that will accumulate dust and debris and you will require little to no maintenance after a cut due to the streamlined design.

Other Features

  • Electric Brake - One feature that we like a lot in the DeWalt DWE575SB is the presence of an electric brake. What this does is automatically brake the blade whenever you lift the circular saw up. Not only is this a convenient and practical feature, but it is also an excellent security one.
  • Compact - Despite the large blade size, this circular saw is lightweight and compact. It weighs only 8.8 lbs and you will have no difficulty maneuvering it around. Furthermore, the housing is made from magnesium which is known to be both a durable and tough material.
  • Front Handle - The front handle makes it easy to hold and maneuver. Additionally, this handle is coated with a soft rubber material making it very comfortable to hold. This should definitely help reduce hand fatigue especially if you hold your circular saw for an extended period every day.

#2. Accessories

The DeWalt DWE575SB is delivered with one of the most basic sets of accessories we have seen in the circular saw. You get the device itself, a blade range for removing the 7-1/4 inches blade, a carbide tipped blade, a user’s manual and finally, a contractor bag. Pretty basic, but it allows you to start working with your circular saw right away.

#3. Price

The price is one aspect that we love about the DeWalt DWE575SB. This circular saw is one of the most competitively priced circular saw we know of. It competes neck to neck with the equally popular Makita 5007F which is in the same price range. However, despite being more expensive, the DWE575SB contains additional security features like an electric brake for a little less performance than the Makita 5007F. All in all, despite a few negatives here and there, the price of the DeWalt DWE575SB is one of the most reasonable we have seen. This is a circular saw purchase that you will not regret, mostly because this compact model has much to offer concerning price, versatility, and performance.

#4. Expert Reviews

We found an excellent expert review of the DeWalt DWE575SB on YouTube channel “Handyman Tips”. The owner of the channel, Joel the Tool Guy gives us a hands-on demonstration of the circular saw. We can clearly see in the review video, the ease-of-use and excellent handling of this compact circular saw. The reviewer also goes through the trouble of showing us the various features of this model. He covers the blade lock system, the bevel adjustments, the handle grip, amongst others. All in all, his video gives us an excellent overview of the DWE575SB. It should easily tell you if this product is right for your needs or not.

#5. Pros/Cons

Pros

  • Value for money. Excellent price to performance ratio
  • Good build construction from lightweight magnesium. Durable and long-lasting
  • Compact and lightweight. Weighs only 8.8 lbs and can easily be maneuvered around
  • Front handle provides better grip and more comfort

Cons

  • Not the best for metal sheet cutting more than 3/4 inch in thickness. Not recommended for heavy-duty cutting applications

#6. Who Should Buy?

Rarely do we go out and recommend a circular saw like this. But we think that the DeWalt DWE575SB deserves it. It is not the most powerful circular saw solution on the market, and it is not the most feature-rich one. But what separates the DWE575SB apart is its excellent price to performance ratio. It is a performing, and dependable circular saw that comes at a price that will not break the bank. We think that it makes an excellent circular saw for beginners, as well as semi-professionals, both in the short-term, and the long-term.
